Dhaka: Qatar has extended its full support to the reform agenda of Bangladesh’s Interim Government, the Ambassador of the oil-rich Gulf kingdom of Qatar, Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani, said today. Ambassador Al-Qahtani called on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna here, where he conveyed the message from his government.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Qatari ambassador expressed enthusiasm about supporting Bangladesh and relayed Qatar’s eagerness to provide comprehensive assistance. This gesture was warmly received by Chief Adviser Professor Yunus, who thanked the Qatar Emir for the continued friendship and support.
The Chief Adviser emphasized the importance of strengthening trade and investment ties with Qatar. He extended an invitation to Qatari entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh and consider relocating their factories to the country’s numerous economic zones. He highlighted that Bangladesh is prepared for business, urging Qatari businessmen to explore the opportunities available in the country. Furthermore, he mentioned that Dhaka would host an investment summit in early April.
The Qatari envoy appreciated the invitation and expressed optimism that more entrepreneurs from Qatar would visit Bangladesh soon. Professor Yunus outlined the reform agenda of his government and detailed the efforts of the consensus commission to facilitate dialogue with political parties. He also noted his upcoming visit to Qatar next month to attend an international conference in the Gulf kingdom.
