President asks varsities to increase research activities

DHAKA, Dec 27, 2016 (BSS) -President Abdul Hamid has urged the authorities of all universities to increase research activities so that students can keep pace with the global competition.

The President made the call when a delegation of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) led by its Vice-Chancellor Pro Dr Md Aminul Haque Bhuiyan made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon, President press secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

During the meeting, the VC apprised the President of various activities of the university including development projects.

The delegation informed the President that SUST authorities have made Bangla, English and Computer courses compulsory for all students of the university.

They invited the President to attend the third convocation of SUST to be held next year.

The VC highlighted various problems of the university and sought the President's cooperation to solve those.

Abdul Hamid suggested the delegation to expedite monitoring the overall activities of the university.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
