Agargaon: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has announced that preparations for the 13th national parliamentary elections are being conducted with sincerity, patience, and courage, despite facing numerous challenges. “We have to prepare for the elections amid many adversities. We are moving forward slowly, and we are progressing quite successfully,” he stated while overseeing the second session on the third day of the Election Commission’s dialogue with registered political parties at the Nirbachan Bhaban conference room in Agargaon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CEC reiterated the Election Commission’s readiness to confront any future challenges, seeking cooperation from political parties to facilitate this endeavor. “We must move forward with your cooperation – throughout our overall preparations, on polling day, and even after the voting is completed,” he emphasized. The CEC assured that there is no flaw or lack of sincerity in the Election Commission’s efforts to ensure a fair and acceptable election.

Election Commissioners Begum Tahmida Ahmad, Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker, Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah, alongside senior secretaries and top officials of the EC Secretariat, were present during the session. The CEC reaffirmed their commitment to hold a free, fair, and acceptable election, stating, “Our preparations are underway to fulfill that promise. We have many major tasks ahead and have taken up additional responsibilities such as arranging voting for expatriate Bangladeshis. There is no flaw in our efforts.”

Addressing the code of conduct, the CEC mentioned that after preparing the draft, it was uploaded on the EC website to seek public opinion. He noted that many political parties and organizations submitted recommendations in writing, which were incorporated as much as possible to finalize the code for proper adherence during the election. He urged political parties to ensure their nominated candidates follow the rules, stating, “Our politicians can directly influence the grassroots. It would be better if you, as parties, guide your candidates a little.”

On the third day of the dialogue, the EC engaged in discussions with Zaker Party, Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), Bangladesh Development Party, Bangladesh Islami Front, Khelafat Majlis, and Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA).
