Rajshahi: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr. Bidhan Chandra Ray Podder has highlighted the urgent need for policy formulation in the private sector of primary education to prevent non-government institutions from levying extra fees. Addressing journalists after a meeting where he was the chief guest, Dr. Podder emphasized that while there is no legal barrier to operating kindergartens and non-government educational institutions, they cannot arbitrarily set fees.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Podder further stated that the curriculum of these non-government primary institutions must be brought under government oversight. The meeting, organized by the District Primary Education Office, was titled “Improvement of Primary Education” and took place at the conference hall of the Primary Teachers Institute (PTI).
The session was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi, Afia Akhter, and included notable contributions from Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) Abu Nur Muhammad Shamsuzzaman, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Habibur Rahman, DPE Director Muhammad Kamrul Hassan, and Divisional Deputy Director of the Department of Primary Education Muhammad Sanaullah.
Dr. Podder stressed the importance of teachers adhering to the teacher’s guide to ensure quality education. He stated that quality teaching in primary education is crucial for nurturing the latent talents of students, who are the future driving force of the nation. He urged teachers and all concerned to perform their duties with sincerity and honesty, as primary education serves as the gateway to higher learning.
He further emphasized that there is no alternative to quality education for shaping students into worthy citizens, encouraging teachers to work towards this goal. Dr. Podder highlighted the necessity of teachers’ dedication in transforming students into ideal citizens who can lead the future of Bangladesh.
Concluding his remarks, Dr. Podder called on everyone to commit to elevating primary education standards for the betterment of society and the nation.
