Police File First Charge Sheet in CJMC Against Hasina, 144 Others for Murder

Savar: Savar Model thana police submitted a maiden charge sheet in the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a murder case filed over the killing of Nabi Nur Morol during the July-August Mass Uprising in 2024. A total of 114 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Dr. Enamur Rahman, and Advocate Qamrul Islam, have been made accused in the case filed over the brutal killing of fish trader Nabi Nur Morol.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the investigating officer (IO) of the case, sub-inspector Foysal Alam, in the charge sheet, alleged that Nabi Nur Morol joined the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement rally on July 20, 2024, at Wapda Road area under Savar Model Police Station. The charge sheet further states that ‘being incited by the prime accused including Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Obaidul Quader, the other accused led by Dr. Enamur Rahman, Manjurul Alam Razib, and Haji Abdul Goni opened fire on the protesters using pistols, shotguns, and local weapons.’



The charge sheet details that ‘one bullet fired from the pistol of Manjurul Alam Razib hit Morol in the abdomen and came out on the other side. He was rushed to Savar Enam Medical Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day.’ Morol’s widow, Aklima Begum, filed the case on September 4, 2024. After more than a year of investigation, the police submitted the charge sheet.



The IO stated, ‘I have filed the charge-sheet against 114 accused of the case and the allegation against them were found to be true.’ The plaintiff, Aklima Begum, expressed satisfaction over the submission of the charge sheet and demanded justice.
