Paturia: The ferry services between Paturia and Daulatdia have resumed after a suspension lasting 11.45 hours, which began at 11.30 pm on Saturday due to dense fog, according to the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the suspension included all engine-driven boats and launches to avoid any untoward incidents. Abdus Salam, Deputy General Manager of BIWTC at Paturia Ghat, stated that ferry movement was halted as dense fog blanketed the riverbed of the Padma River, reducing visibility significantly.

Five ferries, namely Bir Shreshtha Jahangir, Bir Shreshtha Ruhul Amin, Cumilla, Bhaigar, and Shah Paran, were stranded at Paturia Ghat, while four others-Language Martyred Shaheed Barkat, Enayetpuri, Hasna Hena, and Khan Jahan Ali-were stuck at Daulatdia Ghat. Another ferry, Bir Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, remained stranded midstream in the Padma, carrying vehicles and passengers.

DGM Abdus Salam confirmed that ferry movement resumed at 11.15 am on Sunday. All ferries are now operating normally with full loads. Meanwhile, ferry movement between Aricha and Kazirhat on the Jamuna River was also suspended at 10.30 pm on Saturday due to dense fog, but resumed at 11.30 am on Sunday after a 13-hour halt, as reported by BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah. All ferries are now running normally with full loads.
