Pakistan High Commissioner Engages with Bangladesh’s Agriculture Minister

Dhaka: Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider met with Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Amin Ur Rashid at his office at the secretariat here today. During the meeting, various issues of mutual cooperation including import-export of agricultural products, education and research, agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors of the two countries were discussed.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Amin Ur Rashid highlighted the similarities in the agricultural sectors of Bangladesh and Pakistan and revealed plans to restructure agriculture in Bangladesh to make it export-oriented. The minister noted that high-yielding crops and modern farming systems are being prioritized by the government.

Rashid also emphasized the future prospects of Bangladesh’s Blue Economy, stating that sustainable technologies for harvesting deep-sea resources, particularly fisheries, are being developed. He mentioned that a fisheries survey has been completed with the cooperation of experienced countries.

High Commissioner Haider expressed Pakistan’s interest in collaborating in Bangladesh’s agriculture and livestock sectors. He announced that full scholarships are being offered to Bangladeshi students for higher education in agriculture and veterinary subjects at various institutions in Pakistan.
