Rangamati: Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year-1432, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and inclusivity in various districts across the country today. In Rangamati, the festivities were marked by a vibrant procession organized by the district administration.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the procession in Rangamati was inaugurated by Zila Parishad Chairman Agriculturist Kajal Talukder at the Rangamati Municipality premises at 8 am. Notable attendees included Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah, District Superintendent of Police Dr. Farhad Hossain, and other district officials. Participants dressed in traditional attire paraded through the town, culminating at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The celebration continued with a traditional folk fair inaugurated by Dr. Md. Mohiuddin, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, and a cultural program at the Abdul Ali stage.
In Jamalpur, Pahela Baishakh was celebrated with a variety of programs organized by the district administration, political parties, and cultural organizations. A colorful rally led by Deputy Commissioner Hasina Begum traversed the main roads and concluded at Shilpakala Academy, where a cultural program was held. Udichi also organized a cultural event at Shaheed Minar, featuring a chorus performance.
Manikganj saw its own festive celebrations with a procession from Beotha Corner to Manikganj Government High School Playground. The district administration hosted a cultural function at the playground, featuring performances from various cultural organizations. Traditional Bengali foods were also distributed at local jails, hospitals, and government facilities.
In Faridpur, educational institutions and socio-cultural organizations marked the New Year with separate programs. A procession led by Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan Mollah began at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, joined by local officials and citizens, culminating in a series of programs at Ambika Maidan.
Thakurgaon celebrated with a joyous procession and cultural programs organized by the district administration. The day’s events included an entrepreneur fair and programs by local colleges and cultural societies. Thakurgaon Government College and Government Women’s College held processions and cultural programs, while various organizations hosted festivals and performances.
Khagrachhari’s celebrations featured a morning procession from the Deputy Commissioner’s office to Town Hall, followed by a cultural program at Khagrachari District Shilpakala Academy. The event was attended by local officials and community members.
Pahela Baishakh was also celebrated inclusively in districts such as Sylhet, Habiganj, Dinajpur, and many others, involving people from all ethnic groups, marking the Bangla New Year’s arrival with unity and joy.
