Pahela Baishakh Celebrated at World Expo in Japan with Cultural Festivity

Osaka: Pahela Baishakh, marking the first day of the Bengali New Year 1432, was celebrated today as ‘Bangladesh Special Day’ at the ‘2025 Japan World Expo’. The event was characterized by cultural programs and enthusiastic participation.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh mission and pavilion at the expo organized a cultural program at the pop-up stage in Osaka. The festivities were highlighted by performances from the Madol Cultural Dal, a Tokyo-based Bangladeshi cultural group, featuring patriotic and folk songs.



Bangladeshi communities in Japan participated in the events, donning traditional attire such as sharee and panjabi alongside family and friends. The day, designated as ‘Bangladesh Special Day’ by the Expo authority, also saw officials from various country pavilions and expo visitors joining in the celebrations.



Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan, Md. Daud Ali, addressed the gathering, expressing delight at celebrating the Bengali New Year at such a global event. He emphasized the opportunity it presented to promote Bangladesh’s language, history, business products, and cultural heritage.



The event was also attended by Director General of Export Promotion Bureau Baby Rani Karmakar, Commerce Ministry Deputy Secretary Md. Shajebur Rahman, and officials from the embassy and commerce ministry.
