Jamalpur: Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali new year-1432, was celebrated in a befitting manner in the district today. District administration, political parties, various social and cultural organizations chalked out elaborate programmes, including a rally, cultural programme, and sports, to mark the day.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a mammoth colorful rally was organized starting from the Bakultola area in the district town this morning, with participation from people of all walks of life. The rally, led by Deputy Commissioner Hasina Begum, paraded through the main roads and concluded at the Shilpakala Academy premises.
Following the rally, a cultural programme took place at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium. Additionally, Udichi arranged a cultural programme in front of Shaheed Minar in the morning, where artistes of the organization rendered a chorus song.
