Rajshahi: The Padma riverbank in Rajshahi has turned into the focal point of celebrations as people spend their Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. On Eid day and the following two days, a massive influx of visitors was observed around the Padma riverside. Although the crowd was relatively smaller on Eid day due to rain, it gradually increased from the next day onward.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, parks and tourist spots across the city became lively with people of all ages. Even two days after Eid, on Tuesday, entertainment centers continued to witness large crowds. Popular attractions such as Shaheed Zia Shishu Park, Borokuthi Padma Riverside, Simanto Nogor, Bhadra Shishu Park, Rajshahi Zoo, and the Central Park saw similar numbers of visitors. However, the Padma river bank stood out, as it is an open space without any entry fee, drawing a noticeable gathering of people of all ages.
Shabnur Islam, who came with his family from Sagorpara, noted that this year's Eid felt different. Usually residing in Dhaka for work, he was able to celebrate Eid with his family this time. They went out together in the afternoon, and the children were having a great time. He added that they were enjoying the joy of Eid together as a family.
Meanwhile, battery-powered rickshaw and auto-rickshaw drivers in the city have been charging extra fares from passengers during Eid, creating inconvenience for commuters. An official named Enamul Haque mentioned he could not visit his village home this Eid and stayed in Rajshahi instead, spending time at entertainment spots.
