Dhaka: Bangladeshi citizens seeking employment or travel abroad have been urged to avoid suspicious websites and refrain from sharing personal information on platforms other than the official MyGov website for obtaining apostille certificates.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has implemented an online apostille service through the MyGov platform, part of the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Programme of the Information and Communication Technology Division. This initiative aims to streamline the legal migration process for Bangladeshi citizens, making it more efficient and transparent.
The service allows overseas-bound citizens to authenticate necessary public documents and certificates from their homes. Launched by the interim government, it has reduced time, cost, and effort significantly. In the past 11 months, nearly 17 lakh applications have been processed, marking a significant achievement.
However, there is growing concern over fraudulent activities by unscrupulous groups attempting to discredit the service with fake “apostille certificates.” Efforts are underway to identify and prosecute those involved and to shut down counterfeit domains that could compromise the integrity of public documents and risk citizens’ lawful migration processes.
