Dhaka: A total of 2,05,382 cases have been resolved through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service of the National Legal Aid Organization (NLASO), official sources revealed today. This achievement highlights the success of the initiative in providing access to justice for many individuals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a report detailing the activities of the Legal Aid program from 2009 to April 2026 was recently published on the organization’s website. The report outlines that during this period, 2,32,174 cases, including both pre-litigation and post-litigation cases, were initiated under the ADR service.
Out of these, 2,05,382 cases have been successfully settled. The report indicates that 4,00,567 individuals have benefitted from the resolution of these cases and disputes through ADR.
Legal services were extended to 14,61,630 people at government expense during the same period, as per the report. These services, covering High Court and Appellate Divisions of the Supreme Court, lower courts, and labor courts, as well as indigent prisoners, were provided under the ‘Legal Aid Act’ to support financially insolvent and helpless litigants.
The NLASO, operating under the Law and Justice Department of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, has been conducting this program since 2009.
