Dhaka: The digitalisation of land-related services is underway with the introduction of software solutions which have now started yielding results despite some challenges, Land Ministry’s senior secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed said today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ahmed highlighted at a review workshop on challenges of software applications for the land service delivery system under the Land Management Automation Project at Bhumi Bhaban in the capital that land management has traditionally been a paper-based and time-consuming process. As part of the government’s digital transformation campaign, several standardized software applications have been introduced in the land sector to make public services easier, faster, and more transparent.

Ahmed pointed out that the lack of digital literacy and awareness among the rural population remains a significant challenge in digitizing land services. To mitigate these challenges, land service support centers are being established at the union level. Efforts are also underway to strengthen server and internet facilities, install backup systems, and conduct regular monitoring of officials and employees.

He added that regular updates and reforms are being implemented based on public feedback. Ahmed described the project as a groundbreaking step towards improving land services in the country, emphasizing that the use of upgraded software enhances transparency, accountability, and efficiency in service delivery. He expressed hope that the initiative would advance the country’s modernization efforts.

The event was attended by Land Reforms Board Chairman AJM Salahuddin Nagri, Land Appeal Board Chairman Dr. Mahmud Hasan, Land Records and Surveys Department’s Director General Md. Saidur Rahman, and additional secretaries of the ministry.
