Dhaka: National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) today announced that one of the three critically injured victims from the Milestone School and College jet crash is currently on life support at their facility. The institute is treating a total of 33 patients, the majority of whom are students.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, NIBPS Director Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin stated during a news briefing that 33 crash survivors, including 27 children, are receiving treatment. Among them, three are critically injured and are being cared for in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with one victim on life support.
NIBPS has categorized nine of the jet crash victims as 'severely' wounded, while the rest are being treated for burn injuries in various wards. The facility expects to discharge several more victims by the end of the week, having already released four patients post-treatment. However, plans to release three victims today were postponed for further medical evaluation and dressing.
The institute also noted that expert physicians from Singapore, China, and India, who had come to assist, have begun to leave Bangladesh. The Health and Family Welfare Ministry's latest information confirms that 34 people, mostly students, have died following the Milestone jet crash on July 21.
