Dhaka: The Indian Medical Team consisting of specialists from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi has returned to India after concluding its mission in Bangladesh. The team’s visit followed the devastating air crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka on July 21.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the four-member medical team arrived in Bangladesh on July 23, fulfilling an assurance of support and assistance extended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The team’s mission was a response to the tragic incident, which required immediate medical intervention and collaboration.
A press release from the Indian High Commission indicated that India remains prepared to provide further medical support and rehabilitation for those injured in the incident. This could include facilitating advanced treatment in India if necessary. The visit underscores the strong people-to-people connections and empathetic ties between India and Bangladesh.
During its stay in Dhaka, the Indian Medical Team collaborated with Bangladeshi counterparts at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS). They offered specialized medical advice and supported the treatment and recovery efforts for victims of the air crash. The Indian team expressed satisfaction with the protocols in place at NIBPS and shared expert opinions on handling critical cases.
