Dinajpur: A van driver was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the Haidernagar area on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in Ghoraghat upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Yusuf Ali, 45, son of Nur Bakkar Mia of Kucherpara village of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ghoraghat thana officer-in-charge Md Nazmul Haque reported that the accident occurred when a covered van collided with another locally made van in the area, resulting in the immediate death of Yusuf Ali and injuring two other individuals. The injured, Suruzzaman, 70, and Mohammad Ali, 40, were promptly sent to the upazila health complex for medical treatment.
Police have seized the covered van involved in the accident. However, the driver and helper of the covered van managed to flee the scene before authorities could apprehend them.
