Successful Development of SEZ Will Begin New Horizon of Investment: BEZA Chief.

Dhaka: BEZA Executive Chairman (Senior Secretary) Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun today emphasized that the successful implementation of the development of the national Special Economic Zone (SEZ) will usher in a new horizon of investment within the country. He articulated that these economic zones are being constructed with the vision of achieving integrated and planned industrialization. The chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) highlighted that the zones will serve as a model for safe and sustainable development, offering employment and environmental protection for the future generations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ashik Mahmud made these remarks while presiding over a workshop on ‘Regional Environmental and Social Assessment (RESA)’ held at a city hotel. The event was also attended by Lamiya Morshed, Principal Coordinator (SDG) of the Chief Adviser’s Office, and ASM Humayun Kabir, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, who particip
ated as special guests.

Saleh Ahmed, Executive Member (Planning and Development) of BEZA, and Syad Md Nurul Basir, Chairman of the National Housing Authority, were among others who spoke on the occasion. During the workshop, the BEZA chairman emphasized that the evaluation report indicates the necessity of cooperation from various government institutions to transform the national Special Economic Zone into a functional industrial hub. He urged all stakeholders to fulfill their respective responsibilities to facilitate the development of these economic zones.

Lamiya Morshed articulated that the establishment of national Special Economic Zones under BEZA aligns with numerous Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She stated that the development of these zones will create opportunities to implement 11 of the SDG goals, thereby contributing significantly to the nation’s progress in sustainable development.
