Satkhira: A man lost his life while two others sustained injuries when a cow-laden engine van plunged into a ditch in Patkelghata, Satkhira on Thursday morning. The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 11.00 am near a brick kiln located at the Kumira Baligadar intersection along the Satkhira-Khulna highway.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the driver of the ill-fated van, Ishar Ali, aged 60 and a resident of Dhulihar in Satkhira Sadar upazila, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passengers, identified as Md. Mamun Hossain and Motaleb Hossain, both hailing from the same locality, were immediately transported to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for medical attention.

The accident transpired when the van, while approaching the Kumira Baligadar intersection, suffered a punctured wheel. This mechanical failure caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, leading it to veer off course and tumble into an adjacent ditch.

Patkelghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge, AHM Lutfal Kabir, verified the details surrounding the incident.
