One held with 8,780 yaba tablets in Rangpur

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested an alleged drug trafficker from a passenger bus with 8,780 pieces of Yaba tablets from Bishmail point on the Bogura-Rangpur highway in Pirganj upazila of the district today.

“On a tip off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 from Rangpur conducted a raid there and arrested him with the Yaba tablets from the Rangpur bound bus from Bogura on the spot,” a press release said tonight.

The detainee was identified as Mohammad Abu Tayeb, 36, son of late Golam Kabir of Greenview Residential Sunniya Madrasa Road area under Panchlaish Model Police Station of Chattogram district.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested person admitted his involvement in drug trading in connivance with his other cohorts for a long time.

“After filing a case against the arrested person in this connection, the elite force handed him over to Pirganj Police Station in Rangpur,” the release added.
