Pirojpur: Police have arrested a youth and recovered 69 rounds of shotgun cartridges, two walkie-talkies, locally made knives, toy pistol, fake police ID and weapon license cards from Shiyalkathi-Chowrasta area in Kawkhali upazila of the district. The arrested person was identified as Shawon Islam Opu, 24, son of late Shakhawat Hossain of Shiyalkathi area of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Kawkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Anwar Hossain confirmed the matter this morning. Police arrested Shawon during an operation in Shiyalkathi-Chowrasta area on Monday evening. Later, they recovered the items from the rooftop of the two-storey building of his house.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the rooftop of Shawon's house and detained him. During the raid, they recovered 69 shotgun cartridges, two walkie-talkies, two locally made knives, a toy pistol, two fake weapon licenses, a fake police ID card and a leather-made weapon cover.
Pirojpur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Manzur Ahmed Siddiqui said police are investigating the matter.
