Dhaka: The government and private offices, including banks, financial institutions, and courts, are set to resume operations tomorrow after a 10-day holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Azha, one of the major religious celebrations for Muslims.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this year, government officials and employees benefited from an extended 10-day vacation. The break commenced on June 5 following a government announcement and continued until June 12, coinciding with weekends on June 13 and 14. The government had declared June 11 and 12 as public holidays through an executive order, with offices remaining open on two Saturdays prior to the Eid-ul-Azha festivities to accommodate this extended break.
Today marks the final day of the holiday, and many individuals were seen returning to the capital after spending the Eid-ul-Azha vacation with family and friends in their hometowns. Visits to various bus terminals and railway stations, including Gabtoli, Mohakhali, Sayedabad, and Kamlapur, revealed buses arriving in the city with passengers from different regions of the country. Additionally, holidaymakers were observed returning to the capital in private cars.
The influx of passengers was also noted on trains heading to the capital. Despite the high volume of passengers and private vehicles, no significant issues have been reported so far.
