Washington: National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman met with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau at the State Department in Washington, DC. The meeting, held on Wednesday, focused on several significant topics pertinent to both Bangladesh and the United States.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the discussions included the ongoing Rohingya crisis, tariff negotiations between the two countries, developments in South Asia, and the democratic transition in Bangladesh. These issues are critical to the bilateral relationship, and the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
During the meeting, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau commended the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus during a pivotal time for Bangladesh. He also reiterated the continued support of the United States for Bangladesh, highlighting the importance of the bilateral partnership.
In a separate meeting, Dr. Rahman engaged in talks with Assistant US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch. The discussions were described as fruitful, focusing on the agreement between Bangladesh and the United States regarding reciprocal tariffs. This dialogue is crucial for enhancing trade relations and resolving tariff-related issues that affect both countries.
