Rangpur: To strengthen road safety and control illegal movement of vehicles and motorcycles, the Rangpur district administration has decided not to supply fuel without valid driving license, helmet, registration, and fitness documents.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, all filling stations and agencies have been requested not to supply fuel to all types of motor vehicles, including illegal motorcycles, without valid driving license and related documents. This information was given in a notification signed by Rangpur District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan.
The notification mentioned that according to the Road Transport Act, 2018, driving any motor vehicle on a road, highway, or public place without the required documents is a punishable offense. According to sections 4(1) and 16(1) of the act, driving a vehicle without a valid driving license and registration certificate is prohibited. At the same time, according to section 25(1), no vehicle can be operated without a fitness certificate or with an expired fitness.
The notification has requested all concerned not to supply fuel to any type of motor vehicle without registration certificate in one’s own name, updated tax token, updated driving license, standard helmet, updated fitness certificate (where applicable), updated route permit (where applicable), and other documents as per the instructions.
The district and police administration have taken strict steps to restore order in collecting fuel from filling stations and to maintain normal law and order. Tag officers have been appointed at 85 filling stations in Rangpur district along with police security. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed at three fuel depots in Rangpur. In addition, the police administration is taking a strict stance against unregistered motor vehicles, especially unregistered motorcyclists, to control road discipline and stop illegal vehicle movement.
