Dhaka: LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser A. F. Hassan Ariff today revealed that expert opinions were not previously consulted for conducting anti-mosquito drives in the country. Speaking to journalists during a visit to the mosquito eradication activities in the Bangshal Nazirabazar area of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Ariff highlighted the absence of expert committees in past efforts to combat the mosquito menace.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ariff emphasized that the Local Government Division has, for the first time in the country’s history, established two separate committees involving experts to address the issue. He underscored the importance of expert involvement in managing the escalating dengue crisis, noting that their participation would be crucial in developing effective solutions.
Ariff stressed the need for both short and long-term programs to tackle the mosquito problem, with expert opinions prioritized in both strategies. He noted that expert guidance would be essential even
in the application of pesticides during anti-mosquito campaigns to ensure effective control.
Dhaka South City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Md Mizanur Rahman and senior officials from the Local Government Division were present during Ariff’s visit, underscoring the collaborative efforts being made to address the pressing issue.
