Dhaka: Nepal embassy in Dhaka today observed World Meditation Day 2025, highlighting meditation as a timeless spiritual heritage and a vital pathway to inner peace amid global challenges. The programme, organised at the embassy premises in collaboration with Jeevan Vigyan Foundation, was held under the theme ‘Meditation: Awakening Happiness and Inner Peace,’ said a press release issued by the embassy here today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nepal Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanashyam Bhandari, recalled that Nepal was among the core group of six countries that initiated the resolution declaring December 21 as World Meditation Day, which was unanimously adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2024. The envoy emphasized Nepal’s longstanding tradition of contemplation and spiritual inquiry, highlighting meditation as a living heritage deeply rooted in the country’s history and civilisation.

The ambassador also highlighted the increasing importance of meditation in a world fraught with wars, armed conflicts, technological disruptions, social fragmentation, and an escalating climate crisis. He described meditation as a conscious lifestyle choice that fosters mindful awareness and inner discipline.

Leading the meditation session was Anima Bhandari, an instructor from the Jeevan Vigyan Foundation. She guided participants through ‘Swajagaran’ (self-awakening meditation) using techniques of mindful breathing and inner awareness. The session included practices like ‘Namaskar Pranayama’ and ‘Beej Pranayama’, culminating in a guided meditation focused on deep relaxation, calmness, and inner peace.

The event saw participation from several ambassadors and high commissioners, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Nepali community, business and civil society leaders, and Bangladeshi media professionals.
