DHAKA-Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an expert of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) of the banned militant outfit neo-Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from the city's Uttara area this morning.
"We arrested an IED expert of neo-JMB belong to Sarwar-Tamim group from his residence at house no-8, road no-1/A, sector-12 along with some local weapons and explosives at Uttara around 8.30am today," said a RAB official.
The arrestee, Md Mushfiqur Rahman alias Martin Jenny, a last year student of Computer Science and Engineering Department of BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology), has been engaged to inspire newly recruited JMB member to carry out large scale militant attacks on important establishments both of private and government , he said.
RAB extracted the information from 15 JMB operatives arrested in connection with a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act with Badda Police Station, on March 21 in 2017, he also said.
Jenny's father was an eminent civil engineer of the country.
RAB earlier on March 20 in 2017 arrested newly recruited JMB operatives and classmates of Jenny, Wali Zaman and Anwar, from Badda on charges of carrying out subversive acts.
They were also students of BUET.
