Savar: Newly formed National Citizen Party (NCP)'s central leaders today paid glowing tributes to the liberation war martyrs at National Memorial on the city's outskirts.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Party Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhter Hossain led the NCP leaders to pay homage to the war heroes by placing wreaths at 8am. The leaders observed one-minute silence to honor the valiant martyrs of the liberation war.

"As our first programme, we have come to pay respect to the liberation war martyrs," said Nahid, adding that the formal activities of the NCP have commenced. He expressed a vision to welcome the nation on behalf of the NCP, highlighting the long history of struggle from the 1947 partition to the 1971 Liberation War and the 2024 mass uprising. Nahid emphasized the NCP's commitment to building a new Bangladesh inspired by these historical struggles.

Nahid stated that it is impossible to create a new Bangladesh with an outdated constitution and administrative system. He emphasized that the welfare of the people and the implementation of real democracy require more than just a change in government. He underscored the significance of the 2024 mass uprising and the sacrifices made by students and citizens, asserting that the NCP aims to initiate a new journey for Bangladesh by overhauling the entire constitution and governance system to ensure democracy, justice, and equality.

Following their homage at the National Memorial, the NCP leaders proceeded to Rayer Bazar to pay their respects to the martyrs of the mass uprising.
