Feni: Iftar items are being distributed every day in memory of the martyrs killed in the August 4 mass uprising by Awami League leaders and activists in Mahipal of the district town. Hundreds of fasting people, including students and pedestrians, besides vehicle passengers, participated in the program at Mahipal Zero Point on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, volunteer organizer Osman Gani Russell expressed that the initiative is a tribute to the ten brothers who were martyred during the uprising. "Our brothers were shot dead here on August 4. We are distributing iftar items every day in memory of them," Russell stated.
Over a hundred iftar packets are distributed daily, with 25-30 volunteers involved in the initiative. Russell reported that Taka 20,000 was spent on the first day of Ramadan. Due to the growing interest and support from many, the program now continues throughout the month, with an average of Taka 10,000 being spent daily.
Abdul Qayum Sohag, former coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, urged everyone to pray for the martyrs to ensure peace for their departed souls.
