Navy clinch Shaheed Smrity Hockey’s title

Bangladesh Navy clinched title of the Shaheed Smrity Hockey competition beating Bangladesh Army by 3-1 goals in the final held today at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the city.

In the day’s match, Russell Mahmud Jimmy put Navy ahead with a field goal in the 27th minute while Khorsedhur Rahman doubled the lead converting a penalty corner in the 37th minute of the match.

Monoj Babu reduced the margin for Army converting a penalty corner in the 42nd minute while Roman Sarkar sealed the victory for Navy with a field goal in the 58th minute of the match.

Air Chief Marshal and Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) president Masihuzzaman Serniabat was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes. BHF vice president Mohammad Yousuf Ali BHF acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf, tournament committee’s secretary Bodrul Islam and federation officials were present in the prize distribution ceremony.

Organised by BHF, a total of five teams participated in the meet, which was held marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The five participating teams are Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force, AHM Kamruzzaman Smrity Sangha and BKSP.
