Dhaka: Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan today emphasized that the national unity forged a year ago is pivotal for guiding Bangladesh toward a democratic future through justice, reform, and elections. “Bangladesh is going through a crisis period. Various attempts have been made to create instability. Only the unity that was built a year ago can lead the country toward democracy through justice, reform, and elections,” Adilur Rahman stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these remarks were made during the inaugural ceremony and discussion session of the “Adommo-24” memorial at Jahangirnagar University (JU), where Adilur Rahman served as the chief guest. He assured that the government, formed after the Mass Uprising, remains committed to justice, with several trials expected to occur soon.
The Adviser highlighted that the reform process is actively underway, with the interim government collaborating with various political parties to draft a reform charter. “Once finalized, we will proceed to restore the democratic process,” he added.
Expressing his optimism about the future, Adilur Rahman noted, “The entire nation is watching. People across Bangladesh are waiting to build a national consensus that brings prosperity and transitions from the past fascist rule to a lasting democracy.”
He also praised Jahangirnagar University’s significant role during the July Uprising last year, acknowledging the establishment of the ‘Adommo-24′ monument. The event saw participation from various dignitaries, including Jahangirnagar University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr M Abdur Rab, and Convener of the ’36 July Fall of Autocrat Hasina Day Observance Committee – 2025′ Prof Dr Md Shamsul Alam.
