Khagrachari: Rumor Scanner, one of the fact-check platforms in the country, has identified false photos being used to mislead people amid recent Khagrachari tensions.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Rumor Scanner investigation team has discovered several misleading rumors circulating in connection with the recent violence in Khagrachari. The team highlighted a specific instance where a photo was falsely claimed to show the Bangladeshi army setting fire to the homes of the hilly people.

The report from Rumor Scanner clarified that the photo in question was from a 2016 incident in Myanmar, not Bangladesh. This misrepresentation has been used to falsely accuse the Bangladesh Army of actions they did not commit, specifically the burning of residences in the hilly areas. The platform’s findings underscore the importance of verifying information to prevent the spread of misinformation during sensitive times.
