Sylhet: Mustafizur Rahman became the fastest pacer to reach the milestone of 400 wickets in official T20 cricket during a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) game against Sylhet Titans on Friday at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mustafizur started the match with 399 wickets and achieved the feat by taking the wicket of Sylhet captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He later added two more wickets to his tally, finishing with 3-24 as Rangpur Riders won the game by six wickets.

Mustafizur played 315 matches to reach 400 T20 wickets, making him the fastest among pacers worldwide, surpassing Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz, who needed 335 matches to reach the milestone.

Overall, Mustafizur is the second fastest to reach 400 wickets in T20s, surpassing South Africa’s leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who took 320 matches to achieve the feat. Afghanistan spin bowler Rashid Khan remains the fastest bowler overall to reach this landmark, having accomplished it in just 289 matches.

This achievement sees Mustafizur become the 11th bowler in T20 history to enter the 400-wicket club. He is the second Bangladesh player to reach this milestone, following Shakib Al Hasan, who achieved it in 353 matches during the BPL in 2022.
