Mobile Court Imposes Fines on Dinajpur Businesses for Overpricing

Dinajpur:A mobile court has imposed fines totaling Taka 100,000 on two businesses in Dinajpur district for selling LPG gas cylinders at prices higher than the prescribed rates.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was conducted by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) and the Special Response Battalion (SRB) in the Haldibari Notun Bazar area under Parbatipur Police Station. The court session took place from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on Monday.

The businesses fined include dealer M/S Rajab and Brothers and gas dealer M/S Mondal Traders, each penalized Taka 50,000 for violating the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

The press release also indicated that the DNCRP and SRB-13 will continue their intelligence activities and operations to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against illegal hoarding, excessive pricing, and food adulteration.
