Militancy problem remains under control: Kamal

RAJSHAHI, March 7, 2017 (BSS)- Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has categorically said the militancy problem in the country remained under control amidst people-police joint efforts.

He termed the militant-attack on prison van in Gazipur and on police in Comilla as sporadic.

"We are determined to free the country from the curse of militancy and terrorism," he further said while inaugurating the newly constructed buildings of Paba Police Station and Shahmukhdum Police Station here today as the chief guest.

The new police station buildings were constructed here at a cost of Taka 14.20 crore.

Paba Police Station building has been constructed in Nawhata Bazar area under Paba upazila at a cost of around Taka six crore while the Shah Mukhdum Police Station along with a victim support centre under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) was built by spending around Taka 8.2 crore.

Awami League city unit president AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Omor Faruque Chowdhury, MP, Abdul Wadud, MP, Ayen Uddin, MP, Akhter Jahan, MP, DIG of Police Khurshid Alam, RMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam and SP Moazzem Hossain also spoke on the occasion.

The home minister said the militants are committing crimes as parts of both home and abroad conspiracies. The conspiracies are against the country and religion.

He, however, said people of the country have become united against the militancy.

He called upon all citizens to be united and raise voice against extremist forces and distortion of religion so that they could not carry out any conspiracy against the country.
