Man Arrested with 28,000 Yaba Tablets and Cash in Magura

Magura:Members of Special Response Battalion (SRB)-6 arrested a man alleged to be a drug trader, seizing 28,000 yaba tablets, four bottles of phensedyl, and Tk 19.58 lakh in cash during a raid in Magura.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individual was identified as Md Rashed Sheikh, 41, son of Md Mostafa Sheikh and Rokeya Begum from Malipara village in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah district. He was residing in a rented room in the building where the raid took place.

Acting on a tip-off, an SRB-6 team from the Jhenaidah Camp conducted the operation at approximately 1140 pm on Thursday. The raid occurred in a room on the fourth floor of the Swapna Bilash building, located in Collegepara area of Ward No. 9 under Magura Municipality.

During the operation, the team confiscated 28,000 yaba tablets, four bottles of phensedyl, Tk 19,58,100 in cash, a money-counting machine, four laptops, a press boom microphone, and a toy pistol-shaped gas lighter. These items were seized in the presence of witnesses following legal procedures.

A case under the Narcotics Control Act is being filed against the accused. The process to transfer him to Magura Sadar Police Station, along with the seized items, is in progress.

Squadron Leader Md Imamim Mubin Sarkar Sumon, company commander of CPC-2 at SRB-6's Jhenaidah Camp, stated that their operations to arrest accused persons, convicted criminals, and individuals wanted under arrest warrants, as well as to recover illegal firearms and drugs, would continue. He emphasized the force's zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
