Legal Advice Provided to Nearly Half a Million People Through National Legal Aid Services

Dhaka: The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) has announced that it has provided legal advice to 499,666 individuals with the support of government funding.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the data was revealed in a report published on NLASO’s official website, highlighting the legal assistance extended from 2009 to July 2025. The report elaborates that legal aid services were offered to insolvent litigants across 435,332 cases during this period.



Furthermore, the report details that 26,235 people received legal aid through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office. In addition, 261,853 individuals were assisted via Legal Aid Offices located in 64 districts nationwide. The Dhaka and Chattogram Workers’ Legal Aid Cells provided services to 21,682 people at the government’s expense. The National Helpline Call Center, operating toll-free at ‘16430’, delivered legal advice to 189,896 individuals under the government legal aid program.



All services were administered under the ‘Legal Aid Act’, ensuring support to financially disadvantaged and legally incompetent citizens seeking justice. The operations of NLASO are conducted under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
