Sundarbans: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested a notorious pirate with arms and ammunition from the Sundarbans early today. Acting on a tip-off, a team from the BCG Mongla station conducted a drive in the Tambulbunia canal area, adjacent to the Shela River, around 6:00 am, confirmed Lt Commander Siam-ul-Haque of BCG Mongla station (Media).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individual was identified as Alamgir Hossain Sagor, 45, an associate of the notorious Karim Sharif group. He was held while preparing for a robbery in the forest, the official said. One barrel gun, two rounds of bullets, and six empty cartridges were seized from his possession.

However, his accomplices managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of BCG members. Sagor, a resident of the Mongla area in Bagerhat, is reportedly involved in supplying illegal arms, ammunition, and other logistical support to the gang during forest robberies.

The arrested was handed over to Mongla Police Station along with the seized arms and ammunition.
