Dhaka: The government of Bangladesh and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Republic of Korea, have signed the Record of Discussion (RoD) and Terms of Reference (ToR) for a project aimed at enhancing the education and research capacity of the National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research (NIANER) in Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, KOICA will provide a grant of US$5.9 million for the project, which will be executed by the Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery under the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division. An ERD press release confirmed the details of the agreement.
The signing ceremony saw Mirana Mahrukh, additional secretary and wing chief (Asia, JEC and F and F) of the Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Jihoon Kim, country director of KOICA, officially endorse the Record of Discussion (RoD) and Terms of Reference (ToR) for their respective sides.
The project's objectives include establishing a foundation for developing high-quality nursing faculty through the operation of PhD and training programs at NIANER. This initiative marks the first time in Bangladesh's history that nurses will have the opportunity to pursue a PhD degree.
