Melbourne: An 11-member delegation from ICC Bangladesh, led by its President Mahbubur Rahman, has departed for Melbourne, Australia to participate in the ICC's 14th World Chambers Congress (WCC), which is scheduled from September 2-4, 2025.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this premier global forum is organised by the ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF) in partnership with the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). It brings together over 1,000 business, chamber, and political leaders from more than 100 countries. The event, held biennially, offers a platform for exchanging best practices, sharing market insights, fostering cross-border networks, and introducing innovations impacting today's business landscape.
The theme of the Congress, "Business, Chambers, Government: Partners for Prosperity", highlights the collaborative potential among businesses, chambers of commerce, and governments in driving sustained economic growth and opportunity. The Congress will focus on key areas such as addressing geopolitical shifts, clean energy transitions, digital leadership, life sciences, workforce evolution, and resilience in global trade.
A notable moment for ICC Bangladesh is the invitation extended to Tanvir Ahmed, managing director of Green Textile, as a speaker, which underscores Bangladesh's growing presence on the global business stage. Following the WCC, the delegation will extend their international outreach with visits to ICC New Zealand and the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. High-level discussions on enhancing bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and New Zealand are planned.
The delegation includes Mahbubur Rahman, president of ICC Bangladesh; AK Azad, vice-president of ICC Bangladesh; Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), managing director (MD) of Evince Group; Kutubuddin Ahmed, chairman of Envoy Textiles; Mohd. Arshad Ali, MD of The Merchants Limited; Mohammed Abdul Jabbar, MD of DBL Group; Engineer Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, MD of Saiham Cotton Mills Limited; Matiur Rahman, chairman and MD of Uttara Group of Companies; Simeen Rahman, chief executive officer (CEO) of Transcom Group; Tanvir Ahmed, MD of Green Textile Limited; and Ataur Rahman, Secretary General of ICC Bangladesh.
The delegation is expected to return to Dhaka on September 10.
