Khulna: Rakib Bhuiyan, a 10th-grade student from Muktomoyee Secondary School, has developed a robot, robotic hand, and artificial camera, generating significant interest and enthusiasm among the residents of Khulna. His creations are not only gaining popularity but are also attracting attention from scientists and local businessmen.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rakib’s inventions possess the capability to detect criminals and identify impersonators of law enforcement agency members. Additionally, the robot can serve food, which has piqued the interest of restaurant owners. Rakib sold one of his robots and an AI camera to ‘Palestine Live Bakery’ situated near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital last February.
In a conversation with BSS, Rakib shared that his aspiration to create a robot and artificial camera began when he was in the sixth grade. He explained that his robot can identify criminals, serve food, answer questions, and engage with customers. It also has the ability to respond to emergencies by detecting fires and notifying emergency services.
Rakib’s artificial hand, which mimics human hand movements through brain control, has earned him virtual accolades from scientists in Australia and France. During a visit to Rakib’s residence, his robot greeted the reporter with “Assalamu Alaikum,” ready to offer assistance.
Despite financial constraints, Rakib, the son of a van puller, persevered in his pursuit of innovation, often assisting his father to gather funds for his projects. The cost of producing a robot ranges from Taka 25,000 to 35,000, while developing a robotic hand and AI camera costs between Taka 30,000 to 50,000 and Taka 40,000 to 50,000, respectively.
Rakib’s school, Damodor Muktamayi Secondary School, acknowledged his accomplishments. S M A Halim, the headmaster, presented him with crests and money as a token of appreciation. Additionally, Dr. Shahedul Islam, a professor of mechanical engineering at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, commended Rakib’s innovations and promised technical and financial support to further his endeavors.
