Khaleda kept at BSMMU ensuring security: Quader

DHAKA, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said convicted BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was kept at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital after ensuring necessary security measures.

The government remains enough conscious over ensuing safety of Begum Zia who is convicted in two graft cases. BNP is trying to attain support of the party's leaders and workers by making falsehood, he told a press conference at party president's Dhanmondi political office here.

On Thursday, Shahbagh thana police recovered a bomblike bottle from the second floor of administrative building at BSMMU. Imprisoned Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment at room number 621 at cabin block (another building) of the hospital.

After the incident, BNP leaders at a press conference on Friday raised questions over security measures taken for Khaleda Zia.

In this regard, Quader said BNP is raising such question as they have no issue now.

There is nothing to be worried. We remain alert but we are not anxious, he said.
