Dhaka: Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid today highlighted the significance of the July uprising, calling it a milestone in the pursuit of justice and the struggle for democracy in Bangladesh. She made these remarks during a discussion held in memory of the July revolution at her ministry’s conference room.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sharmeen emphasized that the July uprising marked a pivotal moment in Bangladesh’s history, guiding Bengali society against injustice and corruption. The event saw participation from notable ‘July warriors’ such as Umama Fatema, Nusrat Haque, Kotha, Koli, Saima, and Abdur Rahman Nabin.
Sharmeen S Murshid paid tribute to the martyrs and those injured during the July revolution, underscoring the government’s commitment to alleviating societal repression, particularly concerning women and children. She articulated that the uprising was a step towards realizing a new Bangladesh characterized by justice, democracy, social equity, and cultural triumph.
The July warriors, during their speeches, reaffirmed their dedication to creating an equal, unified, and autocracy-free Bangladesh, driven by the spirit of the July uprising.
