Dhaka: The Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have declared that all academic classes and administrative offices will be closed on September 14. This decision was made to address the mental and physical exhaustion of teachers, students, and staff following the activities related to the ongoing JU Central Students' Union (JUCSU) elections.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a notification signed by JU Registrar ABM Azizur Rahman highlighted that the decision recognizes the relentless efforts of the university community during the election process. This includes preparations, voting, and vote counting that took place from September 10 to 13.
To ensure there is no disruption in the undergraduate (honours) first-year admission process for the 2024-25 academic session, all offices pertinent to admissions will remain operational on September 14. Teachers, officers, and staff involved in the admission process have been instructed to be at their respective posts.
Normal academic and administrative activities at JU are set to resume on September 15. However, all scheduled final examinations will be postponed until further notice.
