Jahangirnagar: A two-day interdepartmental debate competition, organised by the Philosophy department of Jahangirnagar University, began here today. JU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan inaugurated the competition titled ‘The Philosopher Podium’ at 11:00 am at the New Arts Building of the university.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Dr. Kamrul Ahsan, while addressing the inaugural ceremony, emphasized the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts. He remarked, “Debates may not always resolve conflicts, dialogues often pave the way for solutions. We must understand the difference between argument, fallacy, and dialogue.”
The competition is structured in the Asian Parliamentary format, featuring 22 teams from various departments. This format provides a platform for showcasing the university’s intellectual talents. The event is set to conclude tomorrow, promising engaging discussions and thought-provoking exchanges among participants.
