Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mohammad Moslehuddin Farid has unofficially secured victory in the Jashore-2 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election, according to preliminary results. Farid received a total of 1,80,965 votes, comfortably defeating his closest rival, Mst Sabira Sultana of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who secured 1,46,447 votes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Senior Secretary to the Election Commission Akhtar Ahmed informed this at a press briefing at the results collection and presentation center set up at the Agargaon Election Building today.
