Chattogram: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called on the people of Chattogram to make a significant decision on February 12, highlighting the potential for a new Bangladesh under the 11-party alliance. Speaking at an election rally at Sitakunda Government High School ground in Chattogram, he emphasized the journey from Dhaka University Central Students’ Union to Jagannath University Central Students’ Union, declaring that a historic moment awaits on February 12.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed confidence in the people of Bir Chattala to make the right decision, asserting that Jamaat-e-Islami seeks to empower the nation’s 18 crore citizens rather than pursue power for itself. He advocated for equitable resource distribution and emphasized that the vision for a new Bangladesh from February 12 will bring the 11-party alliance to power.

Dr. Rahman declared the end of proxy voting and urged individuals to resist any attempts to undermine their voting rights. He connected with the crowd in their local dialect, stressing the importance of respecting mothers, whom he described as the pillars of society.

Addressing recent personal attacks, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that such campaigns against him stem from his anti-corruption stance and would ultimately backfire on those responsible. Reflecting on the July movement, he reiterated the demand for justice and condemned the practice of vote-buying.

He underscored the desire for a government representing all 18 crore people, rather than a party or dynasty. Dr. Rahman concluded by introducing the candidates for the seven seats in Chattogram North.

The meeting, organized by Chattogram North District Jamaat-e-Islami and chaired by its Ameer Alauddin Sikder, saw participation from key figures such as Assistant Secretary of Central Jamaat Maulana Mohammad Shahjahan, former North District Ameer Principal Amiruzzaman, and other notable candidates and representatives.
