Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 has scheduled February 17 for the issuance of an indictment order in the case concerning crimes against humanity related to the death of college student Imam Hasan Taim in the Jatrabari area of the capital. This decision follows a hearing in which the defense presented arguments for discharge petitions for the 11 individuals accused in the case.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the prosecution had previously urged the tribunal to frame charges on January 28, 2026. The tribunal had acknowledged the formal charges against the accused, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman, on December 24, 2025.
Taim, who was a second-year student at Adamjee Nagar Government College in Narayanganj, was reportedly shot at close range on July 20 near the Kajla footbridge under the jurisdiction of Jatrabari Police Station. The prosecution claims that after the incident, police personnel transported Taim to Jatrabari Police Station, where he died following alleged torture.
