Chuadanga: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called for a revolution on February 12, inspired by the historic mass uprising of August 5, 2024, aiming to eradicate extortion, land grabbing, and tender corruption. Speaking at a public rally at Chuadanga Town Football Ground, he emphasized the significance of this movement for justice and a corruption-free Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur highlighted that the upcoming revolution, unlike the previous one that faced bullets, will be driven by the ballot. He urged voters to firmly cast a ‘Yes’ vote, equating ‘Yes’ to freedom and ‘No’ to slavery. He stressed that if ‘Yes’ prevails, Bangladesh will triumph over fascism and corruption. The first vote at the polling booth is crucial for reform, and the second will support a transformed nation.

Dr. Shafiqur underscored the unity of the 11-party alliance, which has brought together 22 hands and the general populace against corruption, extortion, and oppression. He called for a permanent ‘red card’ to fascism and cautioned against harassment of women working for the alliance, advocating for disciplined campaigning and warning of strict resistance to any disrespect.

He paid tribute to student activists Abu Saeed and Abrar Fahad, emphasizing the nation’s responsibility to honor their sacrifice. Dr. Shafiqur pointed out the unity of today’s youth against all forms of fascism, as evidenced by public university elections.

On governance and development, he pledged that elected representatives’ wealth would not increase unfairly, public funds would be transparently managed, and development projects would involve public consultation. He also promised free higher education for women and protection for mothers.

Dr. Shafiqur called for reviving industries, stopping theft and embezzlement, and creating employment to build a productive and prosperous Bangladesh. He highlighted three priorities: a corruption-free society, justice for all, and a reformed nation responsive to public aspirations, urging citizens to vote ‘Yes’ in the national referendum for change.
