Jamaat Aims to Mobilize Youth for Building a Just Bangladesh: Ameer

Sylhet: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the critical role of the nation’s youth in steering Bangladesh towards justice and integrity, highlighting their pivotal contribution during the 2024 July mass uprising. Speaking at a party gathering in South Surma, Sylhet, Dr. Rahman outlined the party’s vision of utilizing this dynamic youth force to establish a fair and equitable society.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the conference, organized by the Sylhet district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami, convened polling center-based representatives from the Sylhet-2 and Sylhet-3 constituencies in anticipation of the upcoming national elections. Dr. Rahman asserted that the envisioned Bangladesh would be free from corruption, terrorism, and extortion, emphasizing the party’s commitment to combating graft and bribery in collaboration with patriotic citizens and students.



Dr. Rahman further stated the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by those who fought against fascism, asserting that Bangladesh has not been leased out to any external entity. He reiterated the need to respect the martyrs’ sacrifices by ensuring their efforts were not in vain.



Addressing the legal status of the July Charter, Dr. Rahman noted that it lacks constitutional validity and called for a public referendum, a move supported by many political parties. He urged the interim government to take this demand seriously.



The event, chaired by Jamaat’s Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Sylhet district Ameer Maulana Habibur Rahman, featured notable attendees, including Central Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair and Central Working Committee member and Sylhet City Ameer Muhammad Fakhrul Islam. The conference was jointly conducted by District Assistant Secretary Principal Nazrul Islam and District Majlish-e-Shura member and former Fenchuganj Upazila Chairman Saifullah Al-Hosain.



Speakers included Sylhet District Nayeb-e-Ameer and Jamaat-nominated candidate for Sylhet-2 Professor Abdul Hannan, Sylhet Regional Team member and Sylhet-1 election management committee convener Hafiz Abdul Hai Harun, District Secretary and Sylhet-4 nominee Md. Zainal Abedin, Sylhet City Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Nurul Islam Babul, Sylhet-3 nominee Maulana Lokman Ahmad, and District Assistant Secretary Maulana Mashuk Ahmad.
